TOOLS FOR ABSTRACT COMPOSITION /
REINVENT YOUR EYE WORKSHOP

Minimum: 3 days / 3 hours a day
Maximum: 2 weeks / 3 hours a day

This class is beneficial for choreographers and dancers involved with interactive generative processes. It is also appropriate for actors, directors, performance artists and film makers. (Some previous movement experience necessary.)
This class uses an improvisational structure to learn both specific tools and conceptual premises for new ways to create visual performance. Scores and structures are designed to dissect the elements used in making work.

By separating and exploring performance elements individually, we enhance the critical thinking techniques for which to assess material. This class also focuses on how to work effectively inside a group dynamic to maximize the performers opportunities for smart, in the moment decision making.

TECHNIQUE CLASS

The work of Lingo dancetheater is rigorous, physical and athletic. Both the men and women of the company are well versed in solo dancing skills as well as a contact based form of contemporary dance partnering. Sharing weight and controlling momentum when dancing with another person creates opportunities for "rides" "falls" and "flight". This 1.5-hour workshop teaches students some basic skills and patterns of contemporary partner dancing in a safe and thrilling environment.
